Botswana

  • Botswana is a landlocked country of the Southern African continent. The country neighbours South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Botswana was formerly rated as a poor country but has transformed with the globes’ fast-growing economy – a vital contributor being tourism.
  • Currently, Botswana has a population of 2,3 million (August 2020) inhabitants with an average life expectancy of 64,8 years. The population is predominantly in the East, around the capital Gaborone. The rest of the population is dispersed around Francistown and other areas of Botswana including the Kalahari.
  • Setswana and English are spoken amongst the people of Botswana. English is a language taught in their schools, as it is their official language. All guides and most staff of the camps can converse in English.
